"Islamic" I think is used to mean "Muslim". "Islamist" -- here's a discussion: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islamism Saddam, as a Pan-Arabist, doesn't fit this. > Like the difference between someone who is proud of being German and > someone who is an enthusiastic Nazi? No. That -- your example - is more like the difference between someone who's proud of being British, and someone who's a member of the BNP. (Or someone who's a patriotic American and someone who's a member of the American Nazi Party.) ----- Original Message ----- From: "Eric" <eyost1132@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <lit-ideas@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Monday, January 22, 2007 8:58 PM Subject: [lit-ideas] Re: The de-islamization of Europe > >>there is a HUGE implicated difference between "Islamic" and "Islamist". > > Like the difference between someone who is proud of being German and > someone who is an enthusiastic Nazi? > > --------------------------------------------------------------- --- > To change your Lit-Ideas settings (subscribe/unsub, vacation on/off, > digest on/off), visit www.andreas.com/faq-lit-ideas.html ------------------------------------------------------------------ To change your Lit-Ideas settings (subscribe/unsub, vacation on/off, digest on/off), visit www.andreas.com/faq-lit-ideas.html
