Sounds like it may be a good time to start training users also, Personal
Folders and Auto Archiving make for good ways to reduce the exchange
databases...

I would suggest seeing if you need all of the 45G on your exchange. I find
that a lot of space is taken up in users sent items or junk in their inbox.
It is almost spring, sprng cleaning time for the exchange box.

The problem is that the IS is about 45G in size. I defragged it in October
last year bring it down from 48G to 40G. I can't really do any better than
that.

Sounds like it might be time to defrag your information store.

Agree, but I was able to restore fine on one tape only and the catalog only
took about 8 minutes.

Might be time to clean the server up to reduce the backup size.

This might be an unrelated issue but can't figure it out.

I have exchange 5.5 running on windows 2000 Ad. Server. I use veritas back
up exec for backups. The problem is that about a week ago my backup started
spanning two tapes. It no longer fits in one and I have to insert a second
tape. Is a single, external, AIT drive. Now when I try to do a restore to
a standby server the catalog job takes about 4 hours and when doing the
restore I get a red X on the IS and it tells me that it is corrupted. I
never get ask for the second tape which I know has part of the IS.

Please help me.
