If I understand things correctly, the rating was downgraded by the automated system because of all the dialect and colloquialisms and whatever, and the validator didn't take account of that or didn't bother to read the comments provided or both.

That's weird. If a validator read the books and found scanning errors that weren't picked up by ranked spelling or spell-check, he/she should have corrected them and the books should have retained the Excellent rating. Unfortunately, validators aren't named like submitters, even when they give permission. You can ask here, of course--and maybe you can ask Claire to let you know who the validators were so you can write to ask them why the rating is only good.
