There is no return from Alt-X. It closes Arachne.

And when I do an Alt-E and then exit, Arachne usually returns me to the
page I had open when I shelled out.

What puzzled me -- and still puzzles me -- is why you would want to use
Alt-F1 to call up the desktop when it can be done by default with a
single key, F10.

OTOH I have at times done things that I realized later weren't all that
necessary, or in some case not even sensible.

My default HomePage is a local file called mypage.htm that I have built
with links to various things that I find useful. Some of these links are
duplicates of things that i can get to in the default settings, but have
been put into the page just so I have a common starting point for them.

And others links in that page save me from having to go and search
hotlist to access them.
