Covered Lake Michigan from Milwaukee to Sheboygan today. At South Shore Park/Marina there was a Redhead, Thayer's Gull and a probable adult California Gull. The latter was sitting on the ice on the north end of the Marina, along with Ring-billed and Herring Gulls. All the ID points could be seen except that it was sitting so leg color could not be determined. (Had this gull been on the ice in the harbor, as hundreds of gulls are, forget it. They are just too far out. The only positive ID I had in the latter sight was a 2nd/3rd year Lesser Black-backed Gull on the river and an adult Iceland Gull on the ice towards the breakwall.) In this general area was a Coot and several Hooded Mergansers. (Bradford Beach had only the usual birds.) Port Washington was very quiet. The only things of note were 2 Ruddy Ducks and 2 Hooded Mergansers. Harrington Beach was also very quiet with standard diving ducks on the lake. Kohler/Andrae had a Surf Scoter plus standard ducks. Very few gulls were present. South of the Sheboygan power plant a White-winged Scoter was present. In the Sheboygan harbor a Hooded Merganser, Ruddy Duck and Coot were present. Also there were 2 Glaucous and 2 Great Black- backed Gulls. At the parking lot by North Point 2 more Glaucous Gulls were among the Ring-billed and Herring Gulls. Neither the Harlequin or Barrow's were seen. Daryl Tessen Appleton, WI #################### You received this email because you are subscribed to the Wisconsin Birding Network (Wisbirdn).
