What does LCS do for you..... Let me see...

Cons:

- Costs an absolute fortune, each different bit of functionality is
another license
- Monthly charges for external internet access
- Resource utilisation is higher as there is more components

Pros:
- Scalability - If I had to deploy something for a 90,000+ people I must
admit I would certainly be more inclined to go for LCS
- Video and telephony integration
- Integration with Outlook and Sharepoint portal servers giving user
status awareness in application.
- Logging to a SQL database. So if you wanted to, you could write a web
page to pull the data out

If I was going to deploy something for up to about 5,000 people, I would
get wildfire, stick it in a VM, set it up and forget about it. Keep an eye
out when there is new versions and that's it.
