As Darragh explained Nokia TTS is symply a means of producing synthetic speech. However, it can't do this on its own, it needs to be made to do this by a software package such as Talks or the other built-in Nokia packages. the built-in Nokia packages are simply very basic applications for sighted people to use ... They are in no way a "real" screen reader in the way visually impaired people would be used to. I'm afraid that you will need to buy another Talks or similar screen reader for your phone in order to get any benefit from Nokia TTS. Perhaps I may have been a little tongue and cheek in my mail! So Nokia TTS is really of no use without Talks I think you are saying? Anyway I will leave the subject now as I feel that I'm being misunderstood and misrepresented! ----- Original Message ----- From: "Darragh Ó Héiligh" <lists@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <vicsireland@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Wednesday, October 01, 2008 4:05 PM Subject: [vicsireland] Re: Nokia Text To Speech > Sorry about that last message. this auto forms mode feature has a mind > of it's own at times! > > Tony, Unless I'm vastly mistaken, Nokia TTS is not in competition with > Talks.
