Hi Sharonda, Glad to hear you are so willing to help your friend resolve this issue. Right now, I have more questions than answers for you. But, hopefully some of your answers will give me an idea of some things you can try. Also, there are many people on this list who are far better at applying positive training methods to this situation. Hopefully you will hear from them as well. I am wondering what techniques you have used to help her deal with this issue. Example, r u using positive training methods or is the dog getting punished whenever it shows aggression? Have you been able to find a pattern or specific situation that sets the dog off? Example, does it react to men with beards, long hair, men carrying objects, etc? How long have the dog and handler been together? Has this always been an issue or did something happen to potentially trigger it? ----- Original Message ----- From: "Sharonda Greenlaw" <sbgreenlaw@xxxxxxxxx> To: <vi-clicker-trainers@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Monday, February 04, 2008 7:51 AM Subject: (VICT) Aggression towards People Hello all, I've been on this list for a while, but usually am just reading. This time, I have a very important question: I have a friend whose dog guide seems, at times, to be aggressive. He has gotten a lot better though. It seems to be toward men mostly, but it doesn't happen all the time. He also doesn't seem to like people that look suspicious. He will try and snap them, but only once. I have tried to help her with this issue. It seems to get better, but it isn't totally gone. She is very frustrated about it, because, if he snaps one too many times, it could cost her her partner. She has actively worked on this, and she wants this behavior eradicated. Can you all please provide some suggestions of what she should do? Thanks a million.
