Yes you do have to turn it to landscape mode to use the keyboard, but that's true of the new E75 as well. Unlike the E75 however, the F and J homekeys have markings, and the screen angles upwards as you slide it so its like holding a mini computer in your hand.
However, there's nothing stopping Nuance from making the touch screen phone ap accessible when the slider is closed, in exactly the same way as the Voiceover ap works on the IPhone. That is to say, you slide your finger from left to right and hear 1, 2, 3, then move your finger down a little and do the same thing to hear 4, 5, 6 etc. When you're on the number you want you stop moving that finger and tap anywhere on the screen with another finger to lock that digit in. All you have to do is imagine the phone keypad in your mind and there's nothing stopping you from even tapping the screen exactly where you'll come to know the digits are with practice. As an alternative for those who aren't comfortable with that, you can turn the phone to landscape and use the physical keys to enter the number. no big deal.

Hi.Just to add my two penny worth if I may, I don't really see what the big deal is here. A few of my friends are looking at these new IFone's, but as I have at least tried my hand at a pocket PC, I can tell you now that a touch screen is nothing to make a song and dance about, in fact in my view you are less efficient using one than you are using a traditional phone keypad or keyboard. As for the N97, you have to turn it on its side to operate the phone using the keyboard which might be quite clumsy and uncomfortable. All the best, Ibrahim.----- Original Message ----- From: "Steve Nutt" <steve@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx>To: <talks-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Tuesday, June 30, 2009 8:17 PM Subject: [talks-uk] Re: APPLE I PHONEHi Barbara,I don't know about that, but the iPhone is, as Matt says a media player that just happens to be a phone, and a pretty poor one. It only supports 3G, and not HSDPA, battery life is poor, but the real kicker for me is that you can only have one device connected by Bluetooth at once. So you couldn't have aheadset and a Braille display for example, even if it supported Braille. Not sure if this is really the case. Voice Over is working on the iPhone, and does apretty good job. But I would say the spec on the phone itself is pretty poor, and the interface sounds clumsy to me.
