Agreed there Ibrahim. I had an iPaq once with a touch screen. You navigated and input text with cursors if you could not use the screen. You could also touch preset areas on the screen to perform certain functions. It was the most inefficient, clumsy and frustrating gadget I ever used!

Just to add my two penny worth if I may, I don't really see what the big deal is here. A few of my friends are looking at these new IFone's, but as I have at least tried my hand at a pocket PC, I can tell you now that a touch screen is nothing to make a song and dance about, in fact in my view you are less efficient using one than you are using a traditional phone keypad or keyboard. As for the N97, you have to turn it on its side to operate the phone using the keyboard which might be quite clumsy and uncomfortable.

I don't know about that, but the iPhone is, as Matt says a media player that just happens to be a phone, and a pretty poor one. It only supports 3G, and not HSDPA, battery life is poor, but the real kicker for me is that you can only have one device connected by Bluetooth at once. So you couldn't have a 
headset and a Braille display for example, even if it supported Braille.

I knew it wasn't true, but I always hate saying I know something to be a
fact because then the world turns on its head and it is!
I heard also that on switching on the iPhone, you have to go through several 

steps before you can actually make a phone-call, which is what a phone is
for after all. Not sure if this is really the case.

It is certainly not true. Voice Over is working on the iPhone, and does a 
pretty good job. But I would say the spec on the phone itself is pretty
poor, and the interface sounds clumsy to me.
