The Tibetan Spaniels tried to do a futurity/maturity for a few years. In my
opinion they set it up very screwy. It was convoluted and difficult to
remember what had to be done when and how much it cost. They kept claiming it
was simple, but how many of us remember when we finally realize the bitch is
expecting that we need to nominate for the futurity? Then after the litter was
born the litter had to be nominated. And then by another certain deadline,
each individual puppy had to be nominated. I nominated one through the ranks
for this year's futurity and it cost me $50. I had another two eligible for
the maturity and wanted one badly shown as he had done well in the futurity.
Well, I could not get either one of them up there and then they had no entries
as they had decided this was to be the last year, so my money just went down
the drain as far as I was concerned. They donated it to the club. I could
have used it back for sure. That would be 2 dog show entries for me.
The futurities and maturities are for the breeders to showcase what they have
produced. I enjoyed the Tibbie ones when I participated. I actually nominated
a litter for the GSDCA futurities but never showed them, but at least it did
not set me back a lot of money and was not such a complicated procedure!
