Ed....that is my point.....we CANNOT control adults when we place a rescue
dog so we MUST TRY to control WHERE the dog is going; I can usually tell
immediately upon a phone conversation if there is a chance that person will
get a rescue; POINT -- We had a wonderful home lined up for a young rescue
(under a year), some medical issue that they were willing to assume; they
came to visit once and I ask them to bring their other house dog with them
for a "meet and greet" after I did the home visit....well this little
bassett they brought wanted NOTHING to do with the big puppy; the potential
adopters were heartbroken but totally understood....yes, maybe they could have
worked it out but it is not worth the STRESS to the new owners, or either
dog...we were all heartbroken but we could not in good faith place this
puppy with them.....BUT on the bright side, they fell in love with Weeping
Willow sanctuary, the way we run our small rescue and plan to help us with
fundraising....no hard feelings. I find that the people with "attitudes"
about not getting a rescue dog "cheap" or "free" have something to hide in the
grand scheme of things. I don't like to feel "sorry" about things after
I've done; much rather feel "safe". Our policy will NEVER change :-)

live inside prevents potential good owners from having rescue
dogs.....trying to control adults is the worst way of doing it!, folks
that understand
this have less stressful lives....
