Ed got some strong responses, since the rescue business is so emotional.
I have had some pet buyers turned down by rescue because they want the dog
to sleep outside and can't determine quickly enough what the person means.
Some people have a doggy door so the dog can go outside if needed, but fail
to explain that to the rescue organization.
Some people want to put the dog out during the day when they are home and
have it sleep inside at night. It is strange how people treat dogs, but if
they have a sincere love of animals, they will find a way to bond.
I commend rescue, and understand the problems it brings. I also
understand that some people don't make themselves clear. I often spend hours
talking to people before they get a puppy. Some folks you know in a few
minutes,
some it takes longer.
I agree that a home might be better than a shelter, but from experience we
know that is not always the case.
