CHILLICOTHE, Ohio, March 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Petland Inc. is outraged
and disappointed at the latest false accusations propagated by the
Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), a radical animal rights
group that has no affiliation with local humane societies. This new
attack from HSUS is in the form of a class action lawsuit based upon
vague and undefined legal arguments. This is a continuing public
relations campaign to smear the good name of Petland and to increase
HSUS donations by utilizing sensationalized media and legal attacks.
"We welcome the o pportunity to discuss the humane and caring medical
methods we use to check the health of the animals at Petland," stated
Joe Watson, vice president of Petland. "Our puppies receive strict
veterinary care and supervision. First, each Petland puppy is examined
by a licensed veterinarian and provided with a health certificate
prior to arriving at our stores. Second, it is the policy of Petland
that each puppy receives a veterinarian examination in the store
before the puppy goes home to certify the puppy is healthy. Third, we
advise the new puppy owner to have his or her pet examined yet again
by a licensed veterinarian within the first week of going home."
Petland stores nationwide meet or exceed all state and federal
requirements as it relates to the health of each puppy. Veterinarians
certify that Petland pets are healthy.

At Petland, we offer healthy, happy and well socialized pets to our

requires that our customers be highly satisfied, it only makes sense
