From this newbies point of view, i would LOVE to hear critiques! I could really
learn ALOT more about our breed SO MUCH MORE QUICKLY than I am. ( and i have
great mentors )There is just so much to learn and so much to be able to learn
to "SEE" for my self in movement! I'd also learn what to look for and what is
desirable and what isn't for that judge. Evan did tell me, flat out, my dog
wan't a conformation dog. And I appreciate his honesty. No hard feelings. Life
goes on. He wasn't the first one to tell me either. At that time my hope
outweighed reality, which goes back to an entirely different thread.

Cappy and Gloria gave oral critiques this last weekend with each class but I
was sitting too far away to catch most of it. What I did hear was
reasonable and made sense in relation to what I had just seen going round,
up and back, stacked and getting temperament checked. Time was taken with
each dog so we could really see the dog. I didn't hear any one complaining
(outside the ring of course) about these comments. Personally I think it is
a good learning tool and an honest attempt by the judge to be rational and
logical in their choices. Except with the veteran bitches when both
admitted that they were granting the win based upon their heart of hearts.
Both admitted, however, that longevity in our breed is an issue and so they
wanted to reward owners/breeders who were able to produce and maintain a dog
in good physical health for so long. No one complained because in our heart
of hearts we all fell in love with the old old lady who was still able to
perform beautifully. Brought tears to many eyes.
