To show more clearly the angles in the hind end.  And no, a stack  wouldn't 
hide a roach.

Look at the skeletal drawing paying particular attention to the  angles.  
Now, you can still see this, especially when a nicely built dog  "walks into 
it", 
but it often more clear when they are stacked.
