It's the very one we all cut our teeth on and remains true to what the design of the GSD was meant to be. The fact that most of our dogs today do not look like the Illustrated Standard means to me that we have gone off course in many ways. Most noticable to me is the lack of prosternum in our dogs today....which indicates that our shoulders are placed too far forward and the lay-on and lay-back are incorrect. Instead of revising the Standard to fit an incorrect generation of dogs, I think we need to go back to what was correct and allowed full extension of the shoulder.
