I happen to agree with Jamie... BUT... How does one explain the dogs being shown today compared to the Illustrated Standard? Especially to a new person. I was talking with a gal last weekend that is a licensed judge. She is starting to add Herding breeds, and the subject of the GSD came up. I find it difficult to jibe the dogs in the ring with the picture shown in the Illustrated Standard. Ginger Cleary Rome, GA www.rihadin.com <http://www.rihadin.com> Silence equals nonexistance. It's the very one we all cut our teeth on and remains true to what the design of the GSD was meant to be. The fact that most of our dogs today do not look like the Illustrated Standard means to me that we have gone off course in many ways. Most noticable to me is the lack of prosternum in our dogs today....which indicates that our shoulders are placed too far forward and the lay-on and lay-back are incorrect. Instead of revising the Standard to fit an incorrect generation of dogs, I think we need to go back to what was correct and allowed full extension of the shoulder.
