That same piece states that the lens is an 80/3.5... not fast by any criteria bit still the best information we have is that it is a
double-gauss type...

I still think a 67/69 camera with an 80 similar to the Ektar available for the small Graphic cameras would have been a winning combination, and would not have competed with Fuji's "Texas Leica" GSW690
rangefinder...

The 105mm, f/3.7 Ektar is essentially the same lens as the 100mm f/3.5 lens on the Medallist. Its a Heliar type but the patent claims that the extra element (beyond a Tessar) is used to correct "rim rays" so as to allow better performance at large openings. Kodak used this same design for its 50mm and 75mm Enlarging Ektars and at least one of the lenses for the Ektra camera, however, the Heliar design doesn not seem to have been popular with other designers.
