That piece also specs the lens as a 6 in 4 double gauss type...

My e-mail filter works on the subject so it routs off list stuff into the list folder. The problem is that the description of six elements in four groups fits both the Planar and Plasmat types so, without other information, it does not identify the generic type. The Planar is derived from the double-Gauss lens and the Plasmat from the Dagor and their characteristics are different. Past practice seems to be to use the Planar type where more than "normal" coverage is not needed and the Plasmat type where it is. Both types can be corrected to a very high degree but the Planar type seems to be the design of choice for fast lenses. Of course, this is all speculation, I suppose Fuji will eventually have some additional information about what its lens actually is.
