Well, this is a bit of a claim which may or may not be true. Basque is
almost certainly the survival of the Neolithic substrate present when the
Indo-Europeans came romping in. Linguists have been arguing about it for
years and still are doing this.
But it seems certain to be a true survivor, in any event. SOMEONE beat out
the Beaker People, and it seems to have been the Basques.
