Amidol is used almost exclusively as a paper developer.  Since paper
developers develop to completion it might be hard to notice that a
portion of the Amidol had oxidized.

100 year old Amidol is still being used , and is still "good".  Amidol (
pre mixed powder) is very stable.  It does turn color, but it is still
good.

Phenidone solid is
quite stabile and in the same class as hydroquinone and Metol as opposed
to Amidol and Glycin.
