Keep in mind since the following podcast was produced, there have been improvements made to the Plextalk Pocket. In this first podcast, the Tech Doctors–Robert and Jenny–introduce themselves and examine two fully accessible state-of-the-art digital players/recorders. The PlexTalk Pocket and Book Port Plus share identical hardware. Through discussion and demonstration, the Tech Doctors explore important differences in the user interfaces.

I have the Book Port Plus, which also uses the 5.03 firmware, though that
firmware was modified to incorporate the APH recorder program, as I
understand it.

Anyway, there is no 24-hour setting for the Book Port Plus. After you enter
the hour and minutes with four digits, you must use the arrow keys on either
side of the round play button to designate AM or PM. I believe the PTR2 did
allow for a 24-hour setting, but apparently that wasn't brought forward to
the Plextalk pocket. I know there are differences between the Plextalk
pocket and the Book Port Plus, but I don't think that APH would have
deliberately removed the capacity for announcing time in 24-hour mode if
that mode were available in the native version of the 5.03 firmware.

Hi John,

I've just checked the older version of the manual and the newer version on
my Pocket and both indicate that you can set an A.M. or P.M. setting.
However, when you follow these instructions, it doesn't happen in reality
(or at least it doesn't happen on my unit which is now running the Version
5.03 firmware (UK).

I reckon that this must be a change which has been made in the firmware but
which has not been modified in either version of the manual.

Jamie

Hey all: Just curious. As I've never actually used the clock in my
pocket, is there a way to set it to 12 or 24 hours? A.M. or P.M.?
Thanks, John
