The music cassettes are usually normalized to what the IRAA wants people to
hear them at it would depend on what quality of tape they are and how much
noise is on the tapes as to which noise level you should record them at.

A couple more questions: what are music cassettes usually recorded at? In
other words, is the analog cassette setting about the level original
cassettes were recorded at when they were made, or do I need to go to a
higher custom level for music cassettes? Also, can I edit in Goldwave if I
don't care about Daisy in a particular instance and am only trying to copy
tracks from a cassette music album?

I decided to go ahead and get a Plextalk Pocket. What is the difference
between mp3 and daisy? I thought the ptr1 recorded in both. I'm a bit
confused between the two. Sharon

Hey Sharon: Put the "noise" level to low. I contend that the actual
MP3 recordings are really Windows files which is to say, that, your
player will need to be capable of playing Windows files as well as MP3.
Also, put your recording setting to "custom". Turn your incrament
setting to "off" or "none. When you stop recording, it will leave a
track mark. If that one is set to anything else, it will automatically
put a section in almost any time there is a "pause". They did a few
rather strange things with the PTR1 units. I use one myself. Get
regular CDR for MP# recording. You can't do MP3 recording on a "music"
CD. Some kind of "copyright" garbage. Hoe these things will help. If,
at some point, you might want to actually talk, contact me. John
