Sorry to belabour the point. But I think this is important. Entries on Amazon, eBay, and GoodReads also say June. (Note that these are not flawless. The first two also have entries with dates *before* June 1984.) In fact, Wikipedia is the only place where I have seen July. Is it possible that the initial print-run had a month/date, which was removed in subsequent reprints? Or are lots of people getting this from the same (erroneous?) source? So we could aim to publish for around the end of the month? Would certainly be worth fireworks on the homepage ?? From: David Davis<mailto:feline1@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: ?Wednesday?, ?18? ?June? ?2014 ?20?:?50 To: projectaon@xxxxxxxxxxxxx<mailto:projectaon@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> I'm afraid the book itself doesn't reveal the answer - my Sparrow 1st edition of 'Flight From the Dark' says "First Published 1984. Reprinted 1984" on the copyright blurb page. So, the first printing had already sold out before I got my copy... which was via a mail-order book catalogue for schools (Puffin Books, I think, although I could be wrong)... this was in my last year of Primary School (term started in September 1984,,, and I seem to recall it was still sunny when I got my copy - so probably Sept or Oct..) - so seems more likely that Flight From the Dark was published in Q1 or Q2 of 1984 if it had had time to sell out it's first printing by Sept/Oct...? Well, we'll just go with it. :) According to, um, us ... the Sparrow version of 'Flight from the Dark' was in June 1984. http://www.projectaon.org/en/Bibliography/FlightFromTheDark Demian says June too: http://gamebooks.org/show_item.php?id=1399 I accept that this is not definitive. Does anybody have an original copy of the book to check? Cerulean ~~~~~~ Manage your subscription at //www.freelists.org/list/projectaon
