That is a bit odd, but if I've done the math right, with Assimilance
you're going to lose 2.2 EP on average whereas without it your going
to lose 2.1 EP on average with a 10% chance of insta-death. I think
the character with Assimilance should like those odds.

I'd rather not change the gameplay here, especially since it can be
argued that Assimilance still confers a benefit (and using a
Discipline isn't guaranteed to always help you come out ahead).
