Thank you, Clint. I no longer have the CDs, and I wrote the message from memory. It may well be UDF instead of UDC. I wasn't aware that Nero may not be compatible with other burning software. I thought a burned disk was a burned disk. I'm surprised that this is the case. I do not recall getting a message that the recording session was "closed out." As I recall, Nero simply said that it was a UD*(something...) CD. I hope to continue working with these people in the future. What instructions or recommendations should I give them so that I will be assured of being able to add data to their disks in the future? Do I understand that XP's native burning software can be more successful or stronger than Nero? About the second part of my question - is there a way to read data on my computer when it is not readable under Windows?
