If you have a good anti-virus program this is not a problem. I
read ALL of my email in preview pane and never get viruses.

I do the same but I also do the Tools, Options, Read, and check
Read all messages in plain text. Plus I do have the Preview
Pane icon so I can click back and forth if I want to see the
subject line better.
By having the read all messages in text -- the really gross spam
does not show with the pictures (LOL).
