From your description, its the phone that's causing the problem. I had a
similar problem awhile ago, that whenever I connected a particular phone to my
wall jack, anyone calling would get a busy signal. After further toying with
the problem, I realized that the phone (even though the receiver was on the
hook) has a short somewhere and was basically keeping the line open... just as
if I had the phone off the hook. Replacing the phone corrected it, since the
phone was bad.
If you can, try a different phone and see if that works. If you have the same
problem with a different phone, you may want to try a different phone cord, as
that too can be bad.

Geez i don't know who got the first email i wrote..ummm..different addy than
this..oh well..my daughter is having trouble getting on internet..when she
tries she gets error..680..she has done everything they have told her to
do..but she finds when she unplugs phone from computer it works but when she
plugs it in to computer it has no dail tone..she is stumped..hope someone
can help her..thanks..Donna
