Fred, It seems I gave you those thoughts a little out of order. The idea I gave as an afterthought was to remove all USB and let Windows reinstall them. However, I should have added that if Windows failed in this regard, that would signal your need to reinstall the chipset drivers (which contain the correct USB drivers for your board). Since the other tests provided no joy, this idea is now at the top of my list of things to try. Have you looked through your Device Manager list to see if there are any conflicts among the items listed? They would show with a yellow '!' if a conflict was detected.
