[optacon-l] Re: another quirky thing to do with the optacon

Apt points; but I still contend that the complexity of the structures of
bills could prove daunting to a neophyte, and the tendency to look at only
the amount due, and due date caused me to develop bad habits as a money
manager which I'm only now beginning to work my way out of, in terms of
realizing the language, and things like APR's buried in the mélange of data
presented on modern bills--which I believe is designed to discourage
consumers from realizing what is going on. This is where I vehemently
disagree with those who contend that their Optacons are inherently superior
to OCR technology. My contention is that the proper tool should be chosen
for the job at hand, and if some people are finding that they can't do with
some Scanning Apps what it can do, I can only suggest that they consider the
benefits of devoting some of the same assiduity they used to develop Optacon
proficiency in the use of their scanning software. I could better define
those chores for which I use an Optacon, and those for which I generally
rely upon the OCR technology to perform, but I am at work and duty calls.
