Hey Bert,

What do you think COFDM receivers have done in the past couple of years,
with literally tens of millions of units sold worldwide? Their development
haven't stood still either.

Bob Miller is right, and today's COFDM outperforms today's 8-VSB just as it
did in 1999. 1999 COFDM still outperforms today's 8-VSB, as demonstrated by
Sinclair when they did their walking demo in front of Hizzhonor Tauzin.

The CRC has lost all credibility after their handling of the MSTV/NAB
testing fiasco. And yes, I blame the NAB for not more forcefully demanding
a retest with a real receiver, especially after the limited retesting that
was done by Sinclair showed such a huge increase in performance. The NAB
was too afraid of upsetting the Government to rock the boat, and drank the
Kool-Aid that 8-VSB was already fixed in the lab and just needed a normal
product cycle to get into the marketplace. Another case of non-engineers
making an engineering decision.

Next week we have to have some tower work done to our top beacon, so we have
to go to reduced power on our standby antenna at 300 ft. How I wish I could
reduce our bitrate and maintain our coverage area, rather than just accept a
day of losing everybody in our normal grade B.

John
