The limits of Outlook 2002 are:

2GB max file size
65,000 items per folder
65,000 folders per folder

But that doesn't mean that it can't be corrupt and Linda's right...try to
recover it by creating a new one and passing info to that one. Then...for
make a backup this time!!

Yeah...I hate to say this Nan, but it's sounding more and more like that pst
file is corrupt....it's just too dang big, I think.

Here's what I'm saying...Open Outlook with that big pst (if you can)...then
go to the File menu and select New>Outlook Data File and open a brand new
one...then just drag some of your folders from the old one to the new one
(using the folder list...View>Folder List), just like you drag stuff in
Windows Explorer. Don't drag them all, or you will end up with a new pst
that's just as big as your old pst. Create a couple new ones...name them
different things that identify them. Think of them kind of like folders in
themselves and think of your existing folders as subfolders of them. Does
that make sense?

And yes, the eventual outcome is that you get rid of that bad pst file (or
at least get it down to a size where the Inbox Repair Tool can finish
scanning it and repair it) and replace it with the new smaller multiple
ones.

Hope that's clearer. And, if anyone else wants to jump in here and help Nan
with this, I'd appreciate it.

Well, I've tried the Inbox Repair Tool several times now, and each time =
have had the same problem. All goes well at first - after the scan, it =
advises that only minor insistencies were found and repairing is optional.
When = I click 'repair', the prog locks up every time. BTW - I have 9530
folders = and
99396 files. Whew!
So, when you say to try creating a new pst and drag my folders there - =
would this then be a replacement for my current Outlook Today -[Personal =
Folders]?
I'm just wondering the end goal, to get an idea of where I'm heading.

Thanks for trying to help me. I'm sorry it takes me so long to respond =
-
very long hours at my day job.

Take care,
nan
