Yeah, that's what I meant -- deleted rather than archived. I do think it would be a smart idea for me to archive my sent items, and I am going to start doing that, but the real reason I'm loath to archive is that old habits die hard and I'm so used to having everything right there for me to look at immediately. The reality is that I don't need that stuff most of the time, so I'll probably just reset it so it archives it for me. I do have a question about that, though: suppose I set it to archive once every 30 days. Will it replace the previous archive file each time, or does it start accumulating archive files each time it runs the procedure? Also is there a limit to how big an archive file can be? Thanks! -----Original Message----- From: Linda F. Of course, this is becuz I send a ridiculous amount of email...before I started archiving my Sent Items, I would go in there and see something like 86,000 of them LOL But, I'm curious why you think your Sent Items WERE being archived if you said you do NOT have an archive.pst....if anything is archived, you WOULD have that file. So, I still don't think they were being archived, but rather, deleted....for some reason....and that's why I suggested that you DO create an archive setup for them, so they would be moved to archive.pst instead of being lost completely. I think what was happening is that even though I didn't have it set to AutoArchive that folder, it was still deleting items over 6 months old because I didn't actually have "do not archive items in this folder" selected. I figured that having nothing selected would prevent the deleting, but I guess not. I made a .pst file yesterday so now I know I have a good backup as of the end of the day yesterday, and I guess I'll have to just remember to do .pst's pretty regularly. Anyway that's what I tell my clients to do so I should practice what I preach!
