Well Peter C holds himself out as a lawyer: I've not checked with the Law Society but if it is a con he has done a good job setting up a firm of solicitors as a front. (I also earn my living as a professional litigator but not in this field at all). I think anyone can apply for a CRB check but if you get the right sponsor the fee is less or they will pay.
