Hello, I am new to this site but I understand someone is interested in buying
something from Modelworks? All I can say is be very, very careful where your
money goes. In my experience their advert saying only a few hand tools
needed to put the kit together forgot to mention a fully equipped workshop and
the
knowledge to use it. I am building one of their loco kits and have had no end
of trouble with it. The service I receive from the company is abysmal. They
say they build a control model but these are never finished when you go to a
show and yet all the kits have supposedly been delivered. I am still waiting
for some parts of my last kit from 20 months ago but they still dont know how
to make one or two items from it!!!!!! I have recently spoken to two builders
of Black 5's after the Donnington show and they are having all sorts of
problems, although the rep at the show says all our kits have had good
reviews!!!!!!! I don't know which planet he is on but it cannot be earth. One
of these
persons was at the Modelworks company when someone brought in all his parts and
demanded his money back. I have only seen less than half a dozen
Winson/Modelworks locos run and each one (including my own) has very been
heavily
modified. It was no surprise to see Modelworks own loco was THE ONLY ONE that
would
not run at one of their events, does that tell you something. An example of
one of my problems was all three piston rods were so long that the pistons
protruded from the end of the cylinders, and by different amounts. Please
e-mail
me separately for other details if interested.
