"Unbelievably nasty"? That's the extent of your sympathy? And this
whole catastrophic war which trashed their country and their children's
mental and physical health and safety (and their secular way of life),
this whole
legal and moral morass for which they will pay the price for generations
you can put down as "inept occupation"? You need to do a little reading
outside your comfort zone.
