Mike: all I can do about it is work toward greater social justice.

Eric: Sign me up. Social justice is worth fighting for.

Mike: .... the severe social and economic disadvantages accruing from 300 years of radical cultural displacement and disenfranchisement ...

Eric: Don't sign me up. My great-grandfather took a piece of chainshot in the jaw fighting for the Union side at Gettysburg. That settled any debt. My responsibility is to seek social justice in the present moment. That means the same social justice for everybody, even for those terrible rich people we read about. It means --starting now! -- everybody gets treated the same. In a trivial sense, for example, it means that if we bust a Jewish comic for using the n-word, we bust black comics for referring to whiteys. Everybody gets treated the same, no double standards, and we secure social justice for the coming generations. To hell with guilt. Only the fair application of justice.
