Judy: Not to be rude or anything... Eric, the US
has fewer doctors per 100,000 of the
population than even the UK, and is busily poaching
nurses from elsewhere. So where would the
medics come from?
Eric: Where they come from now--India, Pakistan, South
America, Eastern Europe, usw. In fact, that would be an
extra incentive! Instead of doing their three-year residency
in a US hospital, the immigrant doctors could give three
years' service aboard US hospital ships which would act as
their teaching hospitals.
