outlook express

I use outlook express. and I have a dsl connection. I turn off the computer
a night and in the morning when I turn it on and reconnect I check the mail
and I get double messages. So if you sent me a message I get two copies of
it. I have download messages at startup. does that have anything to do with
it? The rest of the day when I check the mail everything is fine
