Marino, I have just spotted your Post, are you sure it is your external Drive causing the problem? I have fitted to my Desktop since June this year an external Self Powered Drive, it is a Western Digital is neat little thing it plugs in the front of tower and at 6 pm each day does a back up it only takes seconds maybe at most a minute and says "back up successful is your back up like this? Hi all, I would like to share one experience about slow PC performance at start-up and shutdown. After a longer time I discovered that the problem was being caused by the external hard disk connected via USB port. I am not sure that this did not also cause the slower work of PC. I feel that my PC works faster since I removed the external disk.
