"Do people really find that running these defrag utilities make a
difference?"

My experience with a lot of modern machines is that the hard drives so
large, and files one moves around are so sall that fragmentation is not
really an issue. The last few times I ever defragged a VISTA PC myself
I had maybe 1 or 2 percent fragmentation whichi is as near as none at
all. I do hear however that if you want max performance out of VISTA
then it may be worth turning off the background defrag. My guess is
that you won't need to do it that aften manually.
