This is not to belittle any contributions, but...
IIT-M gets significant funding from the Government, which is
in turn funded by the tax payers (you, me, and the public).
Any morally binding organisation that is Govt funded (of
which IIT-M is a fine example) *owes* it to society to
make its resources available for the common good.
I can't think of *any* other educational institution, Govt
funded or private, that would be interested/capable of
running a LUG in the fine manner it's being run all these
years. There is no one else. It is IIT-M's *duty* to
do support the LUG.
That said, the mirror space offered is highly appreciated.
