Hi Austin,

Yes, Part Developer (PDV) is used to make symbols, chips, PTF views for a part.

You'll need a PCB Librarian Expert license to see the symbol view in PDV.

Hi Shirley,

I found the attribute icon. Thanks!

I am not using part developer yet. All the Allegro Design Entry work I
have done has had someone else making schematic symbols. So, I never
learned how to do them! But, now I am learning.

I fired up part developer and poked around it quite a bit. Am I to assume
this is how I should be making schematic symbols? How do I get a graphic
of the symbol?

15.7 is my version.

Thanks for all your help!

Austin

The Attributes box that I was talking about is usually an icon on the top
of the schematic screen that looks like a page being held by a hand. When
you click on this icon and then click on a component the ATTRIBUTES dialog
box opens.

This box is for all of the Properties in a part. It will allow you to
change the visibility of each property and the alignment of the text for
each property.

A word of Warning: The PATH Value should never be changed in the attributes
box. Changing the path text can cause serious issues between the board and
schematics.

Are you using Part Developer to build your logic symbols? What version of
the software are you using?

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Hi Shriley,

I did figure out that the "CDS_LMAN_SYM_OUTLINE" was what this was. I
edited by hand to be correct. But there really should be a way to make
this visible and edit it in the part viewer I would believe.

The yellow box isn't visible when I do this...

Where is this "Attribuges" box at the top?

Ah! I was wondering how it determined key and not key...thanks!

Please let me know if you have any questions.

So far, with this help, I'm doing OK...I have been able to make the updates
I wanted, and package the design. I have spent a lot of time figuring out
the two text files (chips and part), and doing some editing to the symbol
file...though I don't understand it all, I'm making headway.

Thank you again!

Austin
