Hi,

My suggestion would be to rename them to Flip Vertically and Flip
Horizontally, which I am use to from the GIMP (and I assume Photoshop
has similar operations.) Flip Vertically would be the same as Mirror
Horizontal, and Flip Horizontally would be the same as Mirror
Vertical.

Does this idea seem reasonable? If I was confused, others may be as well.
I'm all for changing the wording to make something more clear. That being said, I don't think that "Flip Vertically" is different from "Mirror Horizontally". Both phrases don't make it perfectly clear to me (I admit English is not my first language), if the "direction" they mean is the axis on which the image is flipped, or the direction of the movement. Or does "flip" imply the movement?

I think it does, but what about adding two simple images to the menu? An arrow could indicate the direction of the "flip" movement.

Images in menus is a R2 thing ;-) Oops! Flipping the image is also post R1, perhaps this feature should be disabled :-)
Seriously, I have implemented this feature and as long as it is not removed, I have no objections if the menu items are renamed to something that is easier to understand. "Flip Left to Right" and "Flip Top to Bottom" sounds good to me.
