This is why I'd rather see a rating system. Perhaps an overall design rating can then be calculated since it appears we must pick a "winner". Ultimately this should be less about picking a winner, then deciding on what the Haiku Icons should look like. This is why submitting already existing sets is allowed. As it is now, I see certain icons I like in one set and others from other sets. Here there are >again: If we go with the sentences, I would perhaps like to see one something like this: I feel these icons represent the unique and distinctive nature of the Haiku OS (they feel Haiku-centric). (I need to credit Charlie for the term Haiku-centric.) To set up a set of guidelines, we need to answer several questions, which might be better done with categories. As an example, here are few that need to be answered: What colors (color scheme) should be used? What perspective should we use? Do we also use the same perspective on the toolbar icons? Is black outline necessary? Do we add a shadow to the icons? When and where should gradients be used? Another interesting discussion on the forums was about the symbol for preferences: Should we stick with the tick mark, use a slider (reference Stippi's set), a spanner (reference Dropline Neu), or something different?
