Duc, thanks for the size reminder, I was wondering where some of the responses
went...thx

Also to append my last email....

"floods" or "storms" are caused by loops in the network.
RSTP maintains the no "loop" rules.
RSTP as a protocol rarley fails on it's own.
Obscure hardware issues can prevent RSTP from doing it's job.
That's why LDP is an optional second protection for loops in those rare cases.

We have had very few "storms" reported of all the installations we have.
Two occurred while switch configuration was taking place on-line by mistake,
one by mis-configured chassis blade participating in an mis-applied LDP
configuration, one by a failing switch that was on the memory recall list.

Often Mesh issues are reported and after review we find many issues with switch
configuration, bad fibers and illegal topologies. Many users are surpised by
the findings when we report our discoveries of how they have been running for
many months.

** I'll have to give kudo's to Gaylon, as we reviewed his Mesh Network a few
weeks back.
It was the cleanest running Mesh system that I have reviewed in the last few
years. Vlans for fieldbus, some broadcast limiting, Mesh was running at peak
performance.

regards...russb
