That's interesting, we had a network storm on our network yesterday too.
Ours looks like it was initiated on the CBLAN side - we had a fiber core
fail between two active concentrators and a couple of soft errors due to
high loading, and it looks like the NFD system started thrashing.  Helping
out NFD by shutting the "A" side of the CBLAN down brought things back to
normal fairly quickly.
Our network storm affected all MESH workstations, some CBLAN workstations
and some peer to peer connections.  Nodebus workstations trying to call
displays from control stations on their local nodebus were smurfed as well
as workstations calling displays across the networks.
