What is your take on FDSI point licenses vs CP point licenses? I never got a good explanation as to the difference. Does FDSIs only on a CP qualify you to buy the FDSI licenses instead of the CP license? The last I heard a ZCP270 was good for 4000 points maximum versus an FCP270 was only good for 2000 points maximum. Anyone know if this is still true? I suppose the good news is the modbus driver is about 1/4 the price of the AB driver, both also have 4 ports which is a major improvement over the old gateways/comm30 modules. We have several AB FDSI (230) talking directly to single or multiple PLC5 and SLC503/4 with out any issues. The block count can get very large very quickly using up all of the available blocks in your CP. For this reason we have been putting the larger ones on there own FCP270 which gives you an option to purchase a gateway/SCADA only license for the CP which is way cheaper than a normal CP license with IO. cheers, Rob. > Donato Azevedo <donatoaz@xxxxxxxxx> wrote: > > On Mon, Apr 26, 2010 at 5:46 PM, Donato Azevedo <donatoaz@xxxxxxxxx> > wrote: > > On Mon, Apr 26, 2010 at 5:39 PM, Johnson, Alex P (IOM) > > <Alex.Johnson@xxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote: > >> To my knowledge, the KF adapter is required to (among other things) > adapt to the very different physical layer of the AB network. > >> > >> Since the FDSI FBM 230 supports only serial links something is needed > to bridge the gap. > >> > >> What's the issue with using the adapter? > > Another doubt regarding the FBM230 is: Can I have one port interfacing > a DH+ network (via a KF2) and another port communicating with a Modbus > device?
