Thank you Judith,
I will try to create such a committee in our group.

I am a member of the Santa Rosa group - the Collaborative Council of the
Redwood Empire to which Julie refers below. (Thank you Julie for relating your
positive experience!)
Our Case Facilitation Committee is not only used during a particularly
difficult part of a case but also to debrief a difficult case at conclusion.
There are times when a Team will ask for a facilitator or even two
facilitators. Our group asks each of its members to sign a pledge upon joining
and again when renewing their membership noting that they will attend and
participate fully in good faith in any case facilitation meeting if invited by
another Team member. Our group offers volunteers who volunteer up to two hours
of their time to facilitate a case. I do not personally know of a facilitation
that went longer than the two hours.
Our members who have taken advantage of the Case Facilitation Committee have
reported satisfaction with the process. I myself have been in two end of case
facilitated debriefs and thought it was very worthwhile.
The Case Facilitation Committee has protocols that it follows in preparation
for a facilitation including a letter to start the process, debrief checklist,
confidentiality agreement for the process, and even an end of facilitation
questionnaire to help us learn what was valuable and maybe what was not so
valuable during the facilitation.
If anyone is interested in learning more about our process, they can email me
offline.
Regards,
Jude

Does your group have a committee that addresses issues between the
collaborative professionals in a case? I trained in Santa Rosa and watched this
in action. An attorney and mental health professional debriefed the attorneys
in a case that had gone horribly wrong. They were able to bring closure to the
situation through reframing and helping the attorneys talk the issues through.
In that group it is called a case facilitation committee. The experience was
extremely powerful for those of us who were privileged to observe and clearly
had a positive result for the participants.

I agree, John. But the other attorney is not even willing to have a
conversation with me about it. SHe feels that she and my client should work it
out.
